I’ve read somewhere that studies have shown that every day prices of non-sale items are higher by 30%–70% in most stores that carry consumer loyalty programs compared to stores without such programs.
I’ve done a small “research” of my own and found this to be true! The loyalty card simply create a perception that the store’s prices are low, while the opposite is true.
I’ve compared my average shopping list for about half a year and found that almost always I get a cheaper overall price at store w/o a loyalty program.
